The Birchington Orthodontic Practice has agreed with the Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT to provide NHS services for orthodontic patients.
All patients under 18 are eligible for an NHS orthodontic examination.
However please note that not everyone seen for an NHS examination will be eligible for NHS treatment. The crookedness of your teeth must score quite highly on the NHS scoring scale, The Index of Treatment Need (IOTN) . You will be advised if this applies to your teeth.
Private orthodontic treatment is also available at this practice. All patients of 18 and over at the time of referral, will only be offered private treatment.
Private treatment can be offered at more flexible times and be started more quickly due to a shorter waiting list. Please ask for a quotation and payment details if you are interested in private treatment.
All NHS patients must be referred by a general dental practitioner. Private patients may self-refer, but must still be registered with a dentist. |
